Pour in the vegetable broth (I usually add just water to enjoy the natural flavour of ingredients) and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes or until the zucchinis and peas are tender.
Add the fresh basil leaves to the pot. This is where the magic happens! The basil will infuse the soup with its amazing aroma. Let it simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
Using an immersion blender or a regular blender (be careful when blending hot liquids), blend the soup until smooth and creamy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Ladle the soup into bowls, garnish with a sprig of fresh basil, and serve hot.
Notes
For an extra burst of flavor and nutrition, you can sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast on top before serving.
